According to Cloudflare, a Mirai botnet strain launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) campaign that peaked at 2.5 terabytes per second (Tbps), making it the greatest attack it has ever encountered.
UDP and TCP floods were used in the attack, which targeted Wynncraft, a Minecraft server. The internet security company said that by containing the attack, no disruption to the game was caused. While Microsoft last year recorded two attacks that hit 3.25 Tbps and 3.47 Tbps, this attack may have been a record-breaker for Cloudflare.
