Members of the Hackney Council, north London, report that they have been victims of a serious security incident that has affected multiple IT systems. The council mentions that the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) is working on investigating the incident and determining the actual impact.
“The investigation has just begun, so limited information is currently available. We will continue providing updates as the analysis goes on,” mentioned Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney. The organization is focusing in deliver essential frontline services, especially to the most vulnerable residents, and protecting data by restoring security systems immediately.
Nevertheless, some of the IT services may be temporarily unavailable: “Residents and local business are asked to be patient and contact us only if it is absolutely necessary”, mentioned the Council’s message.
As for the Hackney Council’s website, its operators mentioned: “Due to technical issues, users may experience some difficulties while trying to access our online services, such as One Account and payments today. We’re trying to fix them as soon as possible”.
