Introduction
Using this tool we can crack/extract the login credentials of Linux users. Minipenguin was developed by a person named Hunter Gregal, the main aim to develop this tool is to steal the login credentials (username and password) in the plain text of Linux Operating system. This tool is free and open-source. Researcher of International Institute of Cyber Security states that user can use this in any Linux Operating system.
Environment
- Os: Kali Linux 2020 64 bit
- Kernel-Version: 5.6.0
Installation Steps
- Use this command to clone the project.
- git clone https://github.com/huntergregal/mimipenguin

- Use the cd command to enter into mimipenguin directory.
root@kali:/home/iicybersecurity# cd mimipenguin/ root@kali:/home/iicybersecurity/mimipenguin#
- Use this command to extract the login credentials python3 mimipenguin.py
root@kali:/home/iicybersecurity/mimipenguin# python3 mimipenguin.py [SYSTEM - GNOME] iicybersecurity:12ABc56
- Successfully extracted the username and password
Conclusion
As we extracted the Linux Login credentials successfully. In the same way, we can use it in any Linux operating system with ease.
