Last week, the torrent portal The Pirate Bay was put offline and more than five days have passed without the website being online.
The Pirate Bay visitors can see a brief message stating that the page is currently offline. However, pentest experts point out that since the site uses Cloudflare’s Always Online technology, you can continue browsing for just a moment.
The exact reason for The Pirate Bay’s inactivity for almost a week is unknown. It has not been issued a statement in the official website forum nor has it been confirmed if the site is inactive due to technical reasons or as a result of sustained DDoS attacks, nor has any pentest been performed.
Previously, pentest specialists reported that a Chinese telecommunications company suffered non-stop DDoS attacks for 11 days, forcing its services to remain offline, but as in the case of The Pirate Bay it is unclear whether it is a DDoS attack or not, being still too early for technical details.
According to Is It Down Right Now, a service that monitors disrupted websites, the Pirate Bay domain has suffered service interruptions for five days and four hours.
However, its domain in dark web (. Onion) has been in operation without any interruption of the service, because its traffic passes through a separate server. If you are a fan of the Pirate Bay and want to visit their website on dark web, just download the Tor browser and search for the link.
You can also choose from one of the alternatives to the Pirate Bay available:
TorLock
TorLock is a torrent download website that claims to host 100% verified torrents. If users identify false torrents, TorLock grants them $1 in return.
Extratorrent
It is true that on May 17, 2017, Extratorrent suddenly disappeared with a message that the site has been permanently closed, however, it returned with a new domain. You can download torrents related to movies, TV programs, anime, books, images, games, software and applications.
IMPORTANT
Every time you visit a site of this kind or decide to download a torrent, remember to always use a reliable VPN service.
