The debate of the First Congressional District of California, transmitted by an online forum, was hacked by unknown malicious actors, after the statements of the participants Lewis Elbinger of Green Party and Lewis Elbinger of the Democratic Party.
This debate, organized by the Independent Like the North State group on Thursday night, was being broadcast live. According to information security researchers, the hackers took the live broadcast to broadcast gay pornography.
The KRCR report says, that the debate was also broadcast on the KFOI station. When the moderator of the debate, Chris Verrill, began asking questions of the candidates, the transmission of the debate was replaced by two men in sexual acts.
The pornographic video remained in line until the moderators disconnected it, but Verrill, was heard saying: “It seems that we have been hacked again, we will try to fix this”.
“Some pranksters decided to continue and not respect ‘Independent Like the North State’, the two candidates that were either the democratic process or our community and that’s disappointing, but the northern state is a big community and we’re not going to let a couple of rotten apples ruin the entire barrel, “said Verrill.
Information security professionals still do not know who the hackers are and what the reasons were. However, this is the first time the forum is hacked.
“It is disappointing that some pranksters did not respect the democratic process. We are already making plans to reschedule the candidate forum so that we can work together to move forward,” wrote Verrill.
This is not the first time something similar happens in California. In 2017, hackers took the television broadcast throughout Orange County and disrupted the programs with strange and mysterious warning messages informing viewers about the upcoming invasion of aliens and the start of Armageddon. In another incident, an Indian officer of the Border Security Force (BSF) who was giving a presentation during Sainik Sammelan played a porn clip to the staff at the event.
